General Description

The Admission Screen can be used to search for admission via several fields and filters. It can also be used to create new admissions/pre-admissions.

1Pre-Admission NumberThis field allows the users to search by the pre-admission number of the admission they're seeking.
2Animal IDThis field allows the users to search by animal ID (or "patient name" as it is sometimes called).

4Sex This dropdown allows the user to select the sex of the patient from a list.
5SpeciesThis dropdown allows the user to select the species of the patient from a list.
6BreedThis dropdown allows the user to select the breed of the patient from a list.
7ClientThis dropdown allows the user to select a client from the list of all client (it helps to begin typing in a name to narrow down this list).
8UnitThis dropdown allows the user to select the unit the admission is under from a list.
9Personnel

This dropdown allows the user to select personnel assigned to the admission from the list of all active personnel (it helps to begin

typing in a name to narrow down this list).

10Diagnosis

This dropdown allows the user to select the diagnosis that may be listed on the admission (when active, this box allows you to select

a diagnosis from a list of all diagnosis codes in the system).

11TypeThis dropdown is a multi-select tool that allows the user to select one or more episode types for the admission.
12Admitted DateThese boxes allow the user to enter a start date, end date, or date range within which to search for an admission.
13Episode StatusThese checkboxes allow the user to select one or more episode statuses to search for.
14"Toggle All"This button turns on all episode statuses for the search.

Admission Screen

The Admission Screen in VetView has two parts:  The Admission Search Screen and the individual Pre-Admission Screen or PA screen that is created for every episode for a patient.

Admission Search Screen

The Admission Search Screen is accessed by clicking on the Admission button on the header bar.

This screen has two sections:  The Admission Search options at the top, and the Search Results at the bottom.  You can also create a New Admission by clicking on the button at the very top.

Admission Search Parameters

All of the search parameters can be used in conjunction with one another.  For example, you can search for a specific PA if you know the patient's case number and the date.  Or you can search for a cluster of episodes, such as all the canines that were seen in the year 2020, or all the currently open episodes for one particular unit.  The total count of episodes appears in the upper right hand corner of the Search Results.  This search screen is also helpful for research when identifying episodes for patients based on keyword, breed, etc.

PersonnelSearches for PAs based on assigned personnel, such as supervising faculty or student.
UnitSearches for PAs based on the admitting unit.  
TypeSearches for PAs based on the appointment type.  (Include Unit to narrow this list down.)
Field ServiceSearches for PAs that are field services, or excludes them
Current StatusSearches for PAs by status
Pending Transfer ToSearches for PAs that have been requested to transfer to a specific unit, regardless of the unit of origin
Pending Transfer FromSearches for PAs that have been requested to transfer from a specific unit, regardless of where they are being transferred to
Status Date RangeSearches for episodes that were in a specific status during a range of dates.  For example, searching for appointments that were cancelled during the month of November


Click on the Search button to load results matching the parameters.  To clear out any parameters and start over, click on the Reset button.

Set Default Search

If you frequently search for a specific set of parameters, you can click on Set Default Search to save those settings.  They will load on this screen the next time you return.  You can also click on Remove Defaults to clear out the previous settings.

Admission Search Results

The results will load in the bottom half of the screen.  The PA#, Case No, Patient ID, and Contacts are all hot links to other screens in the system.   Use CTRL+Click to open these in a new tab if you don't want to lose your results.
