Overview

  1. The definition of Inventory Locations is now based on a hierarchical structure.
  2. A Quantity of Inventory can now exist in multiple Inventory Locations.
  3. Reconciliation & Adjustment of Inventory will now happen at the Inventory Location level.
  4. Adjustments to Inventory Quantities will now require an Adjustment Code and Reason.
  5. It is now possible to 'Auto-Receive Inventory' at the Inventory Location level.  Inventory Locations can be configured to inherit this property from its parent or the Hospital.

Functionality

 Inventory Location Setup...
  1. Navigate to the 'Hospital Setup' screen via the 'Navigation Menu'.
    1. Select the Hospital.
  2. Navigate to the 'Unit Setup' tab.
    1. Select the Hospital Unit.
  3. Navigate to the 'Unit Details' subtab.

    1. Insure that the 'Inventory Area' checkbox is selected.
      1. This options designates the Hospital Unit as an Inventory Area which provides additional functionality to that Hospital Unit - such as Inventory Locations in which Inventory is stored, used, transferred, shipped, and received.
    2. Configure the other Inventory Transfer and Purchase Order Defaults.

  4. Navigate to the 'Inventory Locations' subtab.

    1. Using the 'Location Levels' section, create a model of the storage spaces within the Inventory Area.
      1. For more details, refer to the 'Hospital Setup' screen - 'Unit Setup' tab - 'Inventory Locations' subtab Mockup Wiki page.
    2. Using the 'Inventory Locations' section, begin to lay out the physical Inventory Locations within the Inventory Area, using the Location Level model.
    3. Add Products to the Inventory Location.


 Link Products to Inventory Locations...

Linking Products and Inventory Locations does not actually add Inventory, it just creates a link between the Product and Inventory Location.  This provides a Default Inventory Location for the Product.

This step is not necessary.  When Inventory is received, the Inventory Location is selected, which also creates the Default Inventory Location for the Product.

  1. Navigate to the 'Hospital Setup' screen via the 'Navigation Menu'.
    1. Select the Hospital.
  2. Navigate to the 'Unit Setup' tab.
    1. Select the Hospital Unit.
  3. Navigate to the 'Inventory Locations' subtab.

  4. Navigate to the 'List by Location' subtab.

Definitions

  • Following is a table of definitions for the screens (Components), components of screens (Subcomponents), fields (UI Element labels, names and entities), controls (names and entities), DB columns, adjustment types, privileges, attributes, and specs that have a direct, or indirect, connection to the term 'Inventory Location'.
  • Use the controls at the top of the table to change the sort, grouping, and row height.
  • To see more of the cell content, click on the cell expansion control located at the top-right corner of a selected cell.
