How to Find an Existing Order

How to find an existing order from the Order Search screen

The easiest place to find an existing order is from the Order search screen.

Click on the Orders icon on the VetView toolbar.  (Note:  You must have access to the Orders screen and at least one Orders related privilege in order to see this icon on the top of your screen.)

The Orders Search screen gives you multiple options to find an existing number.  If you know the order number, you can search for it directly.

You can search for all the orders for a single patient by entering in the Case No.  You can also look it up in conjunction with other search criteria.

For example, if you want to find all the open orders for the patient Lexy, case number 155, you can search for any order that has not yet been closed or cancelled.

The search results will load in the window below.  In this example, Lexy has exactly one open order.

Orders may appear for deceased patients

As of version 2.1.6, the Order Search screen will display orders for a patient marked as deceased with a visual indicator (black background.)  This may help when searching for the orders of patients when you only have the patient name and other limited information to go by.

How to Find an order from the Patient Record

You can a access all of a patient's orders from the patient record.

Open up the Episode Filters tab if it is not already open.

From the Episode Filters, select All Episodes and then select Billing.

It may take a few moments for the episodes to load and filter.

Once the screen has fully processed your filter, you will see all the previous Billing sections for each episode, and you can access the order by right clicking.  You can also see estimates.

How to Find an Order from the Client Records

If you have the rights to access the Client records and the Accounting tab, you can see all of the orders for a client for all of their patients, not just a single patient.

Note that this page is controlled by privileges, and you may not have the rights to access this tab.  Contact your hospital administrator if you have questions about these privileges.
