How do I create a regular appointment time slot?

To create a fixed time slot on your schedule, right click anywhere in the calendar grid on the schedule and choose "Add Time Slot."  You must have the Manage Schedules privilege to have this right, and if the schedule is marked as private, then you must also be a member of the unit.

A window will open up that allows you to enter the initial time slot details.  Certain things can be defaulted, such as the schedule's standard appointment type, and each appointment time's length.

How can I add a second time slot at the same time as an existing one?

If you manually create a time slot in the same time as an existing time slot, the new time slot will automatically save to the calendar and create a new Time Scale Grid to make room so that you can see the second time slot.

If you want a better visual layout so you can copy and paste time slots, you can add a new time grid column first.

Right click anywhere in the time grid, and choose Add Time Scale Grid.

This will add a new column to the schedule, so you can continue adding time slots where appropriate.  As many time scale grid columns can be added as necessary.  Once a time slot or appointment has automatically created a new column, it will remain until all the additional time slots or appointments in the column are removed.

You can also manually remove any extra columns with Remove Empty Time Scale Grids.

How do I duplicate my time slots?

Time Slots can be copied and pasted easily onto any parts of the schedule.  You can also use the Copy Day, Copy Week, and Template functions to save time slots and apply them to future days and weeks.

In the example below, a time slot for TECH APPOINTMENT was copied, and will now be pasted onto the blank time scale grid.  The time slot will automatically adjust to match the start time where it was pasted, but will keep all other attributes of the original time slot that was copied.

See How do I copy a time slot to a new time or day? for more information on the copy and paste processes in VetView schedules.

How do I create a drop off time slot?

If you want to limit the number of available slots for Drop Offs, you can create special Drop Off time slots in the right Task Panel on the schedule screen.

Right click in the Drop Offs section and select "Add Time Slot."  The same Edit/Add Time Slot window will appear as it does on the main schedule panel.

Once added, Drop Off time slots will appear the same as any other empty time slot on the schedule, and can have appointments scheduled against them.

Drop Off time slots can also have Regular Appointments scheduled on the same episode, as well as Pick Ups. You can schedule as many appointments on one episode as needed to track the drop offs, appointments, and pick ups, until the patient is formally discharged.
