Lab Setup Tab

Labs Setup Tab

This is the main settings for your laboratory site.  This includes the address, the attributes of the lab, and certain email and server settings to allow for document storage and external reports.

Some of these settings are optional, but others are required for the lab system to function correctly.  Fill out as much information as you have for each lab location.

Click on the Save button at the top to apply any changes.

Lab ID

This is the main identifier for the lab.  This number will be called during the lab portal, and may be used in certain external reports.  Each Lab ID is unique.

Active Flag

As long as a lab location is Active, it is available throughout the system.  If a lab site will no longer be used, you can set it as inactive.  Labs cannot be deleted from within VetView once they have been added, to preserve historical data.

Main Address

This is the main address of the lab site.  It will be pulled into any system reports that call for the address.

Phone, Fax, Emails, and Contact Person

This information will be pulled into certain reports in VetView.  This will also be used as the email addresses that replies should be direct to in VetView.  (Note:  The sent from email address is set up separately under the Attachment Settings section.)

Lab Attributes

These are flags that determine how the lab will behave within VetView.

FlagDescription
Independent LabThis lab is not associated or co-located with other labs in VetView.  Use this for your remote locations, or for labs where data should be kept separate for reporting purposes.
Print Result CommentsThis flag includes the comments on result types, not only the results themselves.
Print Client IdentifiersWhen this flag is turned off, additional client identifiers are ignored.  For labs where client identifiers are used for external reports, these identifiers can be included on the reports.  Client identifiers can be customized in VetView to allow for tracking of additional information, such as farm IDs for poultry or cattle ranches, or state site locations.
Portal Assist(Deprecated and will be removed in a future version)
Print Charges on Accession ReportIncludes the lab charges on the reports.  For labs that primarily service direct charge clients, this attribute may not be necessary.
Send Excel ReportsIncludes a CSV version of the report in addition to the PDF.  For lab sites that service clients collecting data in other systems, this can speed up their data entry.
Enable Section Level Report TriggerAdds the Section as a break point in the Accession reports, for labs who may have accessions for a single patient run through multiple sections at the same time (e.g. virology performs one test,  bacteriology performs another.)

Attachment Settings

This section is where you define the locations on your network or server for file storage.  You can also specify which email address reports should appear to be sent from.

FieldDescription
File Storage TypeChoice between a native file directory, or a third party image management system such as ImageNow. (Contact VetView if you have a different third party file management system you want to use instead.)
Client Documents Folder Path

The file folder on the VetView server, or location on a network drive, SAN, or NAS, for client documents.

Accession Documents Folder PathThe file folder on the VetView server, or location on a network drive, SAN, or NAS, for accession documents.
Request Documents Folder PathThe file folder on the VetView server, or location on a network drive, SAN, or NAS, for request documents (new in version 2.1.)  This includes where attachments sent on requests via the Lab Portal will be stored.
Report Setup File PathThe directory to store report setup files, including Jasper files and any attachments for headers.
Fax Service

Choice between Fax By Email or Fax via API (requires additional setup.)

External Accession ReportsOutside storage for external accession reports.  Use this if reports must be made public on a third party site outside of the client portal.
External Statement ReportsOutside storage for external statement reports.  Use this to upload external statements to a third party site outside of the client portal.
Enable Accounting Reports FolderTurns on separate storage for accounting reports, and specifies the email address to which this reports should also be sent.

Case Coordinator Section

For labs which use a Case Coordinator to manage accessions, you can designate that only the case coordinator can finalize (after review), and also specify notifications on individual tests instead of the entire accession.  Useful for diagnostic labs that manage multiple types of tests for a single patient.

Request Setup

These options are for labs that manage requests prior to accepting new accessions.  Request questions can be printed on reports by default, and charges can be sent to the requestor as opposed to the client established on the accession.
