Localization

Localization
Localization is how VetView can be translated into languages other than English, or customized to use the terms that your specific hospital uses throughout the system.
Almost every label, button, error message, or other piece of text has a code in the software that represents the text in the background. The code has corresponding text in the user's default language that will display on the screen.
Add a new code to VetView
If you discover a code that is displayed in the system but does not have localization attached to it yet, you can add the code manually and the text will then appear correctly when you reload the screen.
Example: This error code is missing the localization.
On the Localization screen, click on the Add button on the Translation List window.
In the window that options, enter the code exactly as it appeared on the screen, the text that it should actually be displaying, and the chosen language for it to appear. English is considered the default language for VetView in this example.)
Save the changes. A success message should appear at the bottom of the screen.
Go back to the screen where you found the missing localization code. The text you associated with the code should now appear.
Translate an existing code to another language
VetView does not translate into our other supported languages; that is the expectation of clients who need to utilize the application in another language. To find the exact code you want to translate, you can search for the code in English by entering a snippet of the text and clicking on Search. You can further narrow it down by selecting what language the code is missing in.
Click on the localization code on the left hand side, and verify it is what you intended by confirming the English that appears. Click on the Add button to open the translation window. The code you select will appear pre-filled in the top. Select the language you are adding, and then click on Save.
Once saved, your new translation will appear in the Translation List. Any user who has that language selected in their user profile will see the localization you added, and not the English or the default text.
Change the Text to Match your Hospital's Preferred Terms
VetView's default terms are inherited from UVIS but many hospitals have developed their own terms for specific parts of their EMR software over the years. For example, VetView refers to a Unit to describe a department within a hospital, but it may also be known as a "service area."
You can change the way VetView's system is labeled in English by editing the localization.
Search for the code you want to edit. Select the correct code from the left hand side. Then click on the language you want to change, and click on Edit.
Change the text and click on Save.
The text will then change throughout VetView for all users.
