Hospital Patient List
The Patient List is a list of all patients associated with a user (via the Personnel section on an episode) or an entire unit. These patients are sorted by Open Episodes, with the option to display patients that have been Held on Patient List after discharge, or which are discharged but still in Deficient status.
Columns on this page can be customized, to turn it into a unit overview for your round's room that can be displayed on a shared screen.
My Open Episodes - View As Personal Patient List
As a default, the logged in user will load in the Personnel box at the top of the screen. This can be changed to another user or to a unit, by searching for those parameters and clicking on Set Default Search. You can also combine the user and unit to filter it down further.
Press CTRL+Click on the Episode, Patient, or Owner to load the patient record or client pages in another tab.
Add Prescription
Click on the Pharmacy Add Prescription button to load the new prescription request window without having to go to the patient record.
Prescriptions Waiting for Approval
Prescriptions Waiting for Approval will appear as a number next to the add prescription button. Click on the number to open the prescription approval window.
Prescriptions Ready for Pickup
Prescriptions Ready for Pickup will appear with a check mark next to the prescription button. Hover over the check mark to see how many prescriptions are ready for pickup.
Deficiencies on the Patient Record
Deficiencies on the patient record appear in their own column, with the medical record group that is either missing, incomplete, or unverified. This allows you to keep track of required work on an episode that has not yet been completed. If an episode is fully up to date, this will instead appear as the word None.
Current Charges
This displays the total amount of the bill on the episode. This can be used as a reminder to add charges if the amount displays as $0.00.
My Open Episodes View As Unit Overview List
Unit Account
To use this screen as a unit overview on a wall mounted display, VetView recommends setting up a unit specific account with restricted privileges, to avoid having to dedicate one user's account to that purpose. Contact your hospital administrator for setting up a local account specifically for this purpose.
To view the patient list as a Unit Overview, remove the user name from the Personnel box, select a unit, and wait a few moments for the screen to reload.
This will display all of the episodes for your unit, regardless of who has been assigned to the specific episodes.
You can then remove the Unit as one of the columns, as it will instead be displayed in the Unit field and won't be necessary.
This screen will automatically refresh every few minutes. Depending on your hospital's server settings, you may need to interact occasionally to avoid a time out.
Hold On Patient List
Every episode in My Open Episodes will give you the option to Hold On Patient List. This ensures that even if the patient is discharged, the patient will remain on the patient list until they are manually removed. The person who processes the patient's discharge will also get this open on the Discharge window.
This feature may be useful for patients who have outstanding labwork or other unfinished business on the patient record, even if the episode is not considered deficient.
These patients appear in their own section, the Held On Patient List grouping.
Once you no longer need to keep them on the patient list, you can right click to Remove Hold on Patient List.
Deficient Discharged Episodes
If an episode has been discharged and there is missing or incomplete or unverified information on the medical record, it will automatically appear in this section of the Patient List.
The deficient sections of the medical record appear in the Deficiencies column.
Once the episode has been cleared, either by completing the record or having it Exempted via Medical Records Management, these patients will automatically drop off the list.
Customize Groups and Columns
Columns on the Patient List can be added and removed. For example, if you are using this as a unit page, you can remove the Unit column. You can always add columns back at a later time if desired.
Columns can also be adjusted left or right, depending on what information you or the unit finds the most crucial.
Groups on this page can be removed or moved up and down. If your school does not use the Hold on Patient List workflow, you can remove this group entirely.
