Purge Interface Logs
The purpose of the Purge Interface Logs job is ti clean out the other API interface logs when the work has been completed. While some records may want to be retained for a certain period of time, there is often little value in logs that have been saved elsewhere via regular server backup or for tasks that were completed successfully.
Settings
The settings for this API job are relatively simple. There are no logs kept of this process.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Back to List | Returns to the list of other API jobs. |
Save | Applies any changes made to the settings. If you attempt to go Back to List without saving, you will receive a warning. |
Active Flag | Indicates that this API job is active and available to turn on. |
Server to Run this Interface On | Selects one server from servers currently connected from the VetView database to run this job on. Like all API jobs, VetView recommends that you consider a single API only server for jobs in conjunction with a load balancer, separate from any production servers, since many API jobs are resource intensive and can cause end user lag if they are running on the same system. If multiple servers with the same name are connected to the database, the API job will not run to avoid duplicates. |
Auto Start | Indicates that this API job will automatically start running when the server is turned on. If this flag is turned off, the job can be available and available to start, but will only start when the Execute Purge Now button is manually pressed. |
Error To Email Address | If there is an error running this job, a message will be sent to this email address. |
Job Settings | Shows the current status of the job, the time that the job should run when Auto Start is turned on, and the last time the job was run as well as the next time it is scheduled to run. |
Purge All Log Files Older Than | Specifies the number of days for which to purge the log files. Depending on your organization's records retension policies, this may be 90 days, 180 days, etc. |
Manually Purge | If you do not want to set up the job to run automatically every day, you can instead perform a manual purge. This may be done in as the final step in a regular backup process of the server. |
