Specimen Tracking App

The Specimen Tracking App is a single purpose web page intended to help the Diagnostic Lab at UGA process specimen location changes more rapidly.

Design

It took approximately three days for the VetView development team to create a rapid prototype of this app.

The app consists of a single special purpose page that communicates with the main VetView app using the API commands to update the location one or more specimens.

A lab tech can scan the barcode on the specimen to find it, enter to add it to the list, and continue scanning. Once all the specimens are entered, they can choose the location, and click Transfer.

We envision this on a small form factor device such as a tablet.

Development

This web app is programmed in Groovy/Grails using the Bootstrap framework and the VetView API commands. It can run on the same Tomcat server as your main VetView application. Because it is a lightweight WAR file and an independent project, a new version can be compiled and installed in minutes.

It is open source and the code is available in the VetView Bitbucket. (Contact VetView if you are a paying client and do not have access to the VetView Bitbucket.)
