How do I connect to VetView Bitbucket?

Browse the public repositories at https://bitbucket.org/VetViewDevs/

This shows a list of available repositories (henceforth referred to as repo/repos).

Click on the desired repo to be taken to the repo details page.

Click on the Clone button on top right, which opens the clone dialog.

Click the button on the right to copy the command to your clipboard.

Open IntelliJ and close any open project you may have.

These instructions are written for the IntelliJ IDE but can work with other IDE environments. Contact your institution if you have any questions about obtaining an educational license for IntellJ.

Click the Check out from Version Control button in IntelliJ 2019, or Get from VCS in IntelliJ 2021.

Select Git.

(You may be prompted to install Git if you have not done so before.)

Paste only the URL portion copied from the repo into the URL box. Then click clone.

You may be prompted to Trust Project before the Clone is allowed to proceed.

Ensure the settings match this image and click the OK button. (IntelliJ 2019.) Settings may import automatically in IntelliJ 2021.

If prompted, allowed Windows Defender Firewall to have access

Once the project has finished importing it will have green checkmarks on all jobs in the Sync window.

How do I modify the apps to run on my system?

Open the Project window and browse to grails-app (main)/conf and open the application.yml file.

Modify the authToken and baseUrl entries in the environments/development/info/app section to match your own installation.

To obtain the authToken open the navigation menu in VetView and choose Job and Interface Setup.

Click the Add Interface Job button.

Select Web Service Interface and click Configure Interface button.

Ensure the job is set as active. Type an appropriate name. Optionally add a description. Ensure Enable is selected.

The token key can be copied to your clipboard by clicking the Copy button to the right of the code.

This is the value needed for the authToken setting in your cloned project.

How do I launch and connect to an app?

Ensure the build configuration is selected and then click either the Run button or the Debug button.

Once the application starts up in will automatically launch the site in your browser.

If the webpage does not launch automatically, click the url shown in the Console window.
