This field should be linked to a Catalog Test Question that is required for all catalog items that include this test.

Linking Value Lists to NALHN Forms using Catalog Test Questions

In VetView, required Questions are automatically added to accessions for tests using the Catalog.   These can be filled out by the submitting client.

These questions can then be linked to the NALHN messaging forms to ensure that the required information is sent in a valid format.

Step 1: Create a value list with the valid types under Value List Setup.  (Some NALHN messages have identical lists and you can reuse them on new questions.  In this example, PRV will reuse the ASF list.)

Step 2: Create a question using this value list under Question Setup.

Step 3:  Add this question to the Catalog item to link it to the tests that will send this message to NAHLN.  (You may choose to set this as Required to ensure it is filled out by the client on the Portal, or have the question answered during Accession Receiving.)

OBX Patient Observations - Include Age Group

This is a value list that should also be linked to a Catalog Test Question for all catalog items that include this test.

Specimen SPM

SPM.14 Specimen Description

This should also be value list linked to a Catalog Test Question for all catalog items that include this test.

Specimen Setup

Specimen Setup

NAHLN restricts the specimens for each test.

Serum is the only permitted specimen for PRV.

Ensure that the appropriate SNOMED codes are in the Specimen Setup for correct matching.
