NAHLN - Classical Swine Fever
Message Profile and Header (MSH) for NAHLN CSF (HL7 Post - Auth Token)
- To report to the NAHLN: Username, Password, and Auth Token or Certificate are required.
- The Schema Definition is not required, but if present the API will validate the message before posting it to the NAHLN website.
- Failure Email should go to a user with VetView admin privileges who can monitor the messages.

- MSH.3 Sending Application is your Laboratories OID. OID Registry
- MSH.4 Sending Facility is your Laboratories Premise ID
- MSH 5 & 6 are NAHLN's information.

Role Instance ID 1 ROL3 should be Source Premises for this message
Role Instance ID 2 ROL3 should be the Submitting Party.

PID Patient Identifiers
- PID3 should include the Animal ID with the OID lab number as the assigning authority.
- PID38 should link to a Test Question that is limited to a value list of allowed Production Class codes.
- OBX can include the Age Group, linked to a Test Question that is limited to a valid list of age classes for ASF.
Specimen SPM Settings
- Use Specimen ID as the EIP.2 Filler Assigned Identifier.
- Turn On SPM.17 Specimen Collection Date Time and SPM.18 Specimen Received Date Time by checking the Include Specimen Sampled Date and Include Accession Released Date boxes.
Specimen Setup
NALHN only allows three specimen types for CSF testing. Ensure that the appropriate SNOMED code is in the specimen setup.
- Tonsil: Tissue specimen from tonsil (specimen) Code: 811000009103
- Tonsil Scraping: Tonsil scraping (specimen) Code: 4241000009102
- Nasal swab: Nasal swab (specimen) Code: 421000009108
Test Setup - Messaging Profile
Each test in VetView that should message for CSF should have the Electronic Messaging Setup turned on for NAHLN.
Test Profile for OPU_R25
Select the Message Profile Name that you set up in the steps above in Job and Interface Setup.
OBR.31 Reason for Submittion
OBR.31 Setup up a Test Catalog question that is restricted to a value list of acceptable reasons for submission (same one that is linked in the OBR.31 in the Profile above.)
OBX.5 Observation Value
This value should be the result name that holds the CT value in test setup
OBX.8 Abnormal Flags
This value should be the result name that holds the CSF interpretation in Test Setup.
This should be restricted to a value list with only the NAHLN approved interpretation results (POS, NEG, INC).
