Objectives

  • Facilitate better specimen tracking at a group level with batches - new domain in VetView for batch tracking

  • Quick app to scan specimens and batches, and move batches in bulk

  • Quick app for faster processing of working accessions based on the worksheets used at the section and workstation level for individual specimens and tests, such as BactT and Serology - “Section Check-In”

Batch Domain Requirements

  • Batch ID to be linked to specimens (never permanent)

  • Specimens can belong to more than one batch

  • Date time created, user created - “Create New Batch” button on the Specimen Tracking Screen and the new Batch Quick App

  • When all specimens in a batch have been marked as Expired, the Batch is automatically expired

  • Expiration is handled by Location, or manually (Expire batch button on the Batch Quick app? to mark all specimens in that batch as Expired)

    • Expired flag on Specimens

    • Expired location flag on the Specimen Location setup

    • Section to Default Location link on the Lab Section Setup tab

Batch Quick App

  • Look up a batch by batch ID and list all specimens in the batch and current location of the specimens

  • Bulk movement of all specimens in that batch from one location to another

  • Look up individual specimen by Specimen ID and move from one location to another

    • Remove specimen from batch when moved?

  • Mass expiration of entire batch when moved to an Expired location

  • Button for mass expiration of entire batch manually

  • Merge batches - ends existing batches and moves all specimens to a new merged batch

  • Sample ID check in by individual specimen or by batch

  • Customizable buttons based on Questions linked to Test
