Patient Medication Setup Tab

The Patient Medication Setup tab is how you control the way certain medications appear on the medical record.

This tab controls how episode treatment antiparasitics and Client Reported antiparasitics appear.  However, this tab only controls the client reported vaccines, based on information gathered from the owner during the patient history discussions.

Medications and vaccines that are given to the patient during the course of an episode are also displayed on the Medical Record by means of adding the product to the patient's bill, or by adding a prescription for a product that is marked as a vaccine on Product Setup.

Add Parasite Treatments, Species, and Synonyms

Once you have your parasites entered, select the name of the parasite to open a series of panels at the bottom of the page.

Here, you can add in recommended products to treat it, as well as a species filter (to prevent this parasite from being an option on patients where it does not apply.)  If no species is entered, the parasite and treatments will be available to all patients.

Note that the only products available in the Products/Treatments section are products you have set up as antiparasitics on the Product Setup page. (See the Medical Record Options under Product Setup for more information.)

Multiple species and treatments can be added.

The Synonym allows you to add any common names for the parasite, e.g. "mange" for Demodex canis.

The Drug Name used to treat the patient is free form for medication, allowing you to customize how it will appear on the label.

The Products list is restricted to only the products entered on this setup page.

Antiparasitic medication that is not prescription can also have labeling information entered, so that the client can take the remainder of the product home and continue treatment there.

They will also appear under the Client Reported Medication section in a similar manner, but without the ability to enter in labeling information, and with the more restricted list of products.
