Inventory Locations are physical locations that contain Inventory for Inventory Areas (Hospital Units). A hierarchical structure can be built to represent the Inventory Area’s physical storage space. |
Inventory Locations can be configured for the Inventory Areas (Hospital Units) via the ‘Hospital Setup’ screen → ‘Unit Setup’ tab → ‘Inventory’ subtab → ‘Inventory Locations’ subtab.

To Configure Inventory Locations:
Navigate to the ‘Hospital Setup’ screen → ‘Unit Setup’ tab.
Locate the Inventory Area (Hospital Unit) for which the Inventory Locations are to be configured.
Navigate to the ‘Hospital Setup’ screen → ‘Unit Setup’ tab → ‘Inventory’ subtab → ‘Inventory Locations’ subtab.To modify an existing Inventory Location, click
Select the row that represents the Inventory Location.
The ‘Location Details’ section will appear to the right of the list of Inventory Locations.
Click on an existing Inventory Location; OR,
Click the ‘Add’ button to add a new Inventory Location.
The ‘Location Details’ section will appear to the right of the list of Inventory Locations.
Select the following options:
‘Active’Active:
Inventory Locations that are not ‘Active’ will not be available for selection in ‘Inventory Location’ drop-down lists.
‘Default’Default:
Only one Inventory Location can be selected as the ‘Default’ for each Inventory Area. When Inventory is initially received into the Inventory Area for the first time, it will be placed into the ‘Default Inventory Location’; otherwise, if the Product already exists in the Inventory Area, it will be received into the the last Inventory Location used.
Hide From Transfer:
When an Inventory Location is ‘hidden from transfers’, it will not be available as a ‘Source Inventory Location’ when Pulling Inventory.
Location Name:
The full name of the Inventory Location that will be displayed on screens and reports.
Location Short Code:
The short character string that will be used when the lineage of the Inventory Location is displayed. For example: “MS - C:1 - Sh:2” is for ‘Shelf 2’ located in ‘Cooler 1’ of the 'Main Storage Inventory’.
Parent Location:
Inventory Locations can be defined as a flat structure, or as a hierarchical list, or tree. Assign a child Inventory Location to a parent Inventory Location if it exists as a subdivision of the parent. There is no limit to the number of levels in the hierarchy, or the number of children or siblings that may be defined. If a child Inventory Location is assigned to a new parent, the Inventory within the child Inventory Location will maintain its association with that child.
Click the ‘Save' button to save changes; OR,
Select another ‘Location’ row, without saving, to discard the changes.
