Pharmacy How-To Guides

The pharmacy module in VetView spans several parts of the system.  Prescriptions are requested from a patient record, or for pharmacies with a retail license, from the Outside Fill page.  A prescription or refill request is then sent to a supervising clinician for approval.  Approved prescriptions wait in the pharmacy queue until a technician is available to process and fill the prescription.  Finally, filled prescriptions are reviewed by a supervising pharmacist before being formally issued and available to the patient or client.

Controlled Drug Machines can be used to automate part of this process.  Medications that do not require a formal prescription can be added and labeled directly from the patient record.  Finally, for clinics that have a license as a dispensary, the prescription can be requested, approved, and filled in a single step directly from the patient record.

At all times, the patient's prescription history can be viewed from the patient record.  Specific prescriptions that were issued in the past can be found using the Prescription Search screen.
