How do I search for existing inventory?

How do I search for existing inventory?  (VetView 3.3)

In VetView 3.3 we have added a new Inventory Search screen.  This screen allows for a faster search of specific products based on item number and product information, inventory area and location, and stock levels.

For detailed information about this screen, please see the Inventory Search Screen page.

How do I search for all locations of a specific product?

On the new Inventory Search screen, enter in the line and sequence number for the product you wish to search for. You can also identify a product by searching for it by name.

Click on the Search button to find matching results.

A list of all matching products will appear.

The Inventory Areas for each specific product will load in the second column, and any sub locations will appear in the Inventory Location column.

The results will also display the current known quantities of each inventory entry for the product.

How do I create a list of all items in an Inventory Area or location?

To find all products within a specific Inventory Area or Inventory Location, select the Area and Location on the top section, and click on Search.

All items within that Inventory Area or Inventory Location will display in the Search Results.

How do I create a list of all items that are low on inventory, or out of stock?

You can search for items that are Below Minimum Stock Quantity, Out of Stock (exactly zero), or have a negative quantity (usually a result of an Inventory Transfer not being performed when moving items from one location to another.)

Select the function and click on Search to create a list.

This list can be used as a starting point to identify specific locations and areas that need attention, such as performing an Inventory Count, removing outdated inventory entries, or otherwise cleaning up old data.

In this example, the LA Emergency Inventory and Community Practice Clinics are potentially two places that should have an Inventory Count and correction performed.

Why can't I modify the inventory in certain areas?

In VetView 3.3, Units can have certain users or roles within the hospital assigned to manage inventory.

If the logged in user is not a member of the unit with the Manage Inventory privileges, then the options to adjust the individual Inventory entries within that unit are not available.

In this example, the user is not assigned Inventory privileges within LA Emergency as a unit, and as such, the options to modify the inventory entries are grayed out.

Inventory Privileges

If you have been asked to update inventory for a unit and do not have these options available, contact your supervisor or unit manager to have your Role added to the unit, or have your individual user privileges updated with the new Inventory Management options.   Supervisors may go to the Hospital Unit Assigned Users Tab page for more information.
