Accession View Options
In Version 4.0.9 of VetView, the Accession Screen has been rebuilt to handle large case loads better and to resolve outstanding issues related to the “failure to mount” error.
This has been done by adding in new View Options at the top of the Accession Screen.
The functionality of the original Accession Tree view remains, but the new views allow you to choose your personal preferences
Original Accession Tree and Result Entry Tab Have Been Removed
The 4.0.8 and earlier view of the VetView Accession tree has been removed. The dual tab system was a compromise intended for smaller screens, but syncing issues between the tab not visible caused recurring errors in VetView (the infamous “failure to mount” error) and thus this view has been disabled in 4.0.9 going forward.
The new default view for all users will be the Accession Tree view.
Accession Tree
The 4.0.9 Accession Tree view combines the Accession Details and Result Entry into a single tab with two panes. This unified view also simplifies the Accession to result pathway for tests that come in already in Working status from Hospital or from the Portal.
All functions previously available on the Result Entry Tab are now available on the Result Entry Panel on the Accession Details Tab. The only thing that has changed is the removal of the separate view of the accession tree prior to release of the accession.
New Views, Old Data: The new accession views will load any existing data you have in your VetView database, even if it was imported from an older system such as UVIS. This will help when looking at older accession data for research.
By default, the Result Entry details appear on the left panel and the Accession Tree appears on the right panel, but you can Swap Panels to reverse them. (See the Swap Panels section for more information.)
Click on the item in the Accession Tree to modify it in the Details panel. In this example, a Specimen row has been selected, so the Specimen details are available to modify in the Details panel.
The Result Details panel can be closed and opened and needed, to allow you to view the full accession in the Accession Tree panel on smaller monitors.
Hide Questions
For large accessions with many questions appearing in the Accession Tree, you may want to temporarily hide them when resulting the accession. Hide Questions has been added under the Other Options menu.
When the questions are hidden, this option changes over to Show Questions instead so that you can restore them any time you need to see them again.
Test List View
This view is a fully flattened list on the accession that mimics the Test List screen. This view loses the relationships between different tests in the accession, but in exchange allows for large accessions to load more quickly and for a user to process them one row at a time, similar to the Result Entry screen.
This may be suitable for accessions with 1:1 relationships between patients and tests on accessions with too many tests to be manageable in the normal Accession Tree view.
Questions in List View
To look at questions and answer them, click on the Question mark next to the Test, the Specimen, or the Patient in the appropriate column.
Questions on this view will open up separately in the Results panel with the question type in the header. Required questions will display in red.
Locked Questions: Questions on Finalized accessions, or accessions that have been manually locked by an administrator, cannot be edited. To modify a Question on a finalized accession, you will need to unfinalize the accession first.
Pancake Menu on Test List View
Test List view is also supported on tablets or touch screens that do not have a mouse or otherwise cannot use the right click menus throughout VetView. Instead, the menu on this view can be accessed by clicking on the “pancake menu” that appears at the start of each row.
This menu allows you to perform actions on the test within that row - editing the patient, specimen, or test itself, printing labels, or canceling the specific test on that row.
Add or Remove Columns
By default, a minimum number of columns will load on the Test List View panel. You can remove unnecessary columns and add in columns that provide helpful data in their place.
To add a new column, right click on the column header next to where you want to add the new column, and choose Add Column. In the example below, the Sample Date column will be added next to the specimen.
Right click on the column you want remove and choose Remove Column from the options.
Certain columns, such as the Pancake Menu column, cannot be removed, and thus the Remove Column option will not be available.
Adjust Column Widths on Test List View
VetView will auto adjust the column widths to some extent, but you can manually change the column widths to match your own needs by grabbing the edge of the column and moving it left or right. You can also double click to auto adjust to the width of the text in the header (similar to spreadsheet applications.)
Click on Save Columns to store the layout on your User Profile for future use.
Move Columns on Test List View
You can move columns left or right by right clicking the column and choosing to Move Left or Move Right. This method allows for precision adjustment of a single column.
Click on Save Columns to remember the new column order between accessions.
Drag and Drop Columns on Test List View
Another method of moving the columns is to grab the middle of the column header and drag and drop it to a different location within the header columns. In this example, the Specimen Label column will be moved directly in front of the Patient Name column. Remember to Save Columns to store these for future usage.
Reset Columns on Test List View
To restore the default columns, you can click on Reset Columns and have the original columns and their locations added back to the screen.
Worksheet View
This view transforms the Accession tree into a spreadsheet / worksheet that may be suitable for data entry for large cases that are processed by an external machine interface but still need to be manually verified and reviewed.
This method of Accession entry is also the most similar to a spreadsheet and allows for rapid data entry using a Copy/Paste function in each Result.
It mimics the look of the Worksheet Screen, but for a single Accession. If you are performing tests on multiple accessions, the full featured Worksheet Screen may be the better option to use.
Move Test Columns on the Worksheet View
Similar to the Test List View, you can move columns left or right by right clicking the column and choosing to Move Left or Move Right on the Worksheet View. This method allows for precision adjustment of a single column.
Click on Save Columns to store the layout on your User Profile for future use.

Reset Test Columns
To get back all the columns that were removed and return to the default worksheet settings, you can click on Reset Columns.
Broken Screens: In the event that accessions are not appearing as you expect them to on the Test List view or Worksheet view and Reset Columns is not working, you can have a supervisor force a reset of your columns manually under the User Management screen. These columns are saved as the testListView or accessionWorksheet under the User Search Preferences tab. Deleting these settings will restore the Test List View or Worksheet view to its defaults and allow you to see the screen in its original state.
Access Patient, Specimen, or Test Questions
Questions within the Worksheet View are handled on a per row basis. You can access them by using the pancake or right click menu to edit the Patient, Specimen, or Test, and viewing the question underneath the details of the item you selected.
Fill Down Results in Worksheet View
Worksheet View allows for rapid data entry of large cases using a Paste or Paste to All option from results.
In this PCR example, all results in the Accession were negative. You can select the this result in the first column, and then choose Paste to All to fill in any remaining rows.
This method also allows you to manually select a positive, not negative, or positive/negative control option on a large PCR batch, and then manually fill in the negatives for the remaining rows using Paste to All Blanks.
Clear Results in Worksheet View
To clear results in selected rows in Worksheet view, select the rows in the middle checkbox column between the Test Information and Results panels, and then right click and choose Clear Selected.
Edit Rich Text Results or Comments in Worksheet View
Large blocks of text won’t display correctly in the smaller cell of Worksheet View. To edit a comment or a rich text result, double click the cell.
A pop up window will open to allow you to edit the Rich Text comment.
Once closed, the Rich Text comment will be available to preview in the space above the Test Information panel when the cell in the worksheet is selected.
Collapse Test Information in Worksheet View
Click on the arrow next to the Results header to collapse the Test Information panel.
This will temporarily hide the Test Information so you can focus on your results. You can expand the Test Information panel again at any time.
Reference Ranges in Worksheet View
When results have references ranges in Worksheet View, the ranges will display in the space above the Test Information and Results panels, similar to the Rich Text preview.
Calculated Values in Worksheet View
Calculated values can also have references ranges. Since calculated values based on values entered in other cells are locked and cannot be selected directly, we have provided a radio button to allow for selection of these cells if you need to see the reference ranges.
Copy and paste results for calculated values have been tested and will work on Worksheet View, but due to the calculations occurring behind the scene for each row, will briefly cause a slowdown in performance on large accessions.
Swap Panels in Accession Tree or Test List Views
On the Accession Tree Style Entry and Test List Style Entry views, you can change which side the Accession Tree and Result Entry panels are on.
Swap Panels is not available in Worksheet View.
But if you prefer, you can change the Result Entry to be on the right side and the Accession Tree to be on the left side by clicking on Swap Panels.
Click on the Save Current View as Default to make this change permanent between Accessions.
Save Current View As Default
This feature allows your current view to be stored and saved between accessions and also restored the next time you log into to VetView.
