Mail Screen

Mail Screen

At the right side of the header bar in VetView is the Mail Screen, where internal mail notifications from the system and other users within VetView appears.

Depending on how your hospital administrator has set up your account, these messages may also be bounced to an external email address.

The total number of unread emails will appear in parenthesis next to the word Mail on the icon.  In the image above, there are four unread messages.

Mail Search

VetView's internal mail system uses a simple search based on dates, the status (Read, Unread, or Deleted), or using a keyword.

"Deleting" mail in VetView will remove it from your inbox, but will keep a copy permanently in the VetView Database.  The ability to search for mail that was marked as deleted allows you to keep your inbox free of clutter without losing any important notices. Depending on your hospital's policies, VetView mail may be monitored by a system administrator.

Keyword Search works for broad search terms (such as "surgery") or specific terms such as a patient's name.

Mail Messages

Mail messages in VetView are simple rich text and hyperlinks.  Images or more advanced formatting are not available.

Inbox

The inbox will by default contain all Read and Unread messages that have not been marked as Deleted.  Unread messages will appear in bold text.

You can manually open the message to mark it as read.  You can also mark a previously read message as Unread, by clicking on the Mark as Unread button at the top.  To delete a message from the inbox, click on the Delete button when that message has been selected.

Use CTRL+Click to open any hyperlinks in a new tab.

Sent Mail

Sent mail is a history of all User Mail messages you manually sent to another user within VetView.  At any time, you can review what was sent.  These messages cannot be cleared out or marked as deleted, but they are on the separate Sent Mail tab to keep them out of your inbox.

Compose Mail

Click on the Compose button to create a new User Mail message.

VetView supports sending out messages to multiple users at once.  This tool can be used to communicate with members of your unit, students under your supervision, or other coworkers who may need a written communication outside of the bounds of the automated messages sent on Events within VetView.

As mentioned before, all messages within VetView may be monitored by a system administrator depending on your hospital's policies, so only use VetView for professional or work related communications.

Click on the send button to complete the mail message and deliver it to the users listed in the To box.

The sent message will immediately appear in the Sent Mail tab after clicking on Send.
