Lab Portal Setup Tab (3.1)

Lab Portal Setup Tab in VetView 3.1

In version 3.1 of VetView, the Labs Portal and Hospital Portal setup has been split.

This change will allow you to maintain a separate login for your hospital clients and your lab clients, and manage them independently.   It will also allow your hospital and your labs to maintain separate branding on the portal.

(For Portal Setup for versions 2.0 and earlier, please see the old/wiki/spaces/AR/pages/557907974  For port setup for versions 2.1, 2.2, and 3.0, please see Portal Setup Tab 2.1 instead.)

All of Lab Portal Setup can now be found under Lab Setup > Portal Setup.  Portal Setup has been removed from Common Setup.

Because of this change, each lab in your VetView system will have its own portal.  You can have unique branding and a unique Home page for each lab.  Previously, each lab had a unique section within the portal, but you were forced to share the header image, branding, color scheme, etc. with all other labs and any hospitals in your system that also used the portal.  Now each one can be different.

Clients are now managed on a per lab basis.

General Portal Settings

The General tab contains the configuration for your lab portal.  The URL where it will reside may need to be coordinated with your institute's technology team.

FieldDescription
Lab Portal Enabled:This flag turns your Lab Portal on.  The portal is an optional feature that allows clients to access accessions and results that you have made available.
Portal URL:The website address where your portal can be accessed.  This URL should be coordinated with your institution's IT department and should be available outside of your firewall / VPN.
Header File Path:A file location on your VetView server where the header files and images are stored.

Search Filters - Client Types:Displays the Client Type options that should be included in the search filters at the top of the lab screen.  The standard options would be the name that an accession was billed to, or the name of the business / farm that requested the accession.  However, since labs can also support owners directly, RDVMs, clinics, hospitals, other labs, etc, you can customize these on a per lab basis.
Accession Search Filter Enabled:When this feature is turned on, certain results on accession search are suppressed.  This filter expression should use a series of numbers, comma separated, if you want to hide columns from being displayed.
Patient Filter Enabled:When this feature is turned on, certain results from the patient search are suppressed.  This filter expression should also used a series of numbers, comma separated, to hide this information.

Catalog Subtab

This subtab controls how the Catalog tab will display all the available tests that your clients can order.  You can set the order, determine whether a logged in user can sort by it, and choose which column is associated with the letter sort navigation at the top of the Labs Catalog.

This tab was previously located under Lab Setup > Catalog Description Setup in Navigation.  It was moved here since it is only relevant to your Labs Portal.

At least one Sort and Letter must be selected

The Letter indicates which column will be associated with the letter selection at the top of the screen.  This should ideally be the Test Name or Test column.  The Sort flag indicates the default sort for the Catalog screen.  At least one column must have each of these flags for your Catalog to display correctly.

FieldDescription
Item NameThe name of the column that should display on the Catalog.  This name should match the name that is set for each item under Catalog Setup > Search Entries.

Value TypeChoice between a "custom" field (pulled in from the Search Entries on the Catalog Item that match it), or a fixed value list.  For example, the In State Price is a value list of the type Price Set, and then you select which price set you want to display.  Thus, the column labeled In State Price will show the price for that catalog item if you are within the state.   Other fixed value lists include the Performing Lab, the Section, the Test Code, the Workstation, and the Specimen Filter.
Price SetFor Value Types of Price Set, which price set should display under that label.  Not applicable to any other value types.
ExcludeHides this column from the catalog display for your lab only.   The information will still be pulled in and displayed on the individual catalog items when viewed, but won't be included as a column on the Catalog tab.

SortAllows the user to sort by this column on the Catalog page in the Lab Portal.

Accounting Subtab

You can also show or hide the accounting history, or show or hide the payment form itself.  If your clients cannot make payments on your portal, then the Show Payment form should be disabled.

Show Accounting History:Enables the accounting history section for your client in the portal.  If you do not want your clients to have access to their accounting history, this can be disabled.
Show Payment Form on Accounting Screen:Enables the payment form for your clients on the portal.  If you do not want your clients to be able to pay online, this can be disabled.  You must have a third party payment processor, such as Touchnet,  already set up for this feature to work.
