titleAdd a New Request to an Episode

Right click on the Episode Header, and choose "Add New Element > Add Request" to open up the request dialog box.

Or click on Add Requests from the header for the episode.

All the requests available for your hospital will load on this page.  Requests can be filtered by catalogs, by units, or by pick lists if those have been set up.

Or, if you know the name of the request you want, you can start typing it in on the request line itself.

For example, typing in "FIV" will load up any requests that include those letters, regardless of the unit.

If required, enter in a specimen name, and the date and time it was captured.

The Requesting DVM is the supervising clinician, and the Requestor is the student, technician, or other staff member who is submitting the request.

For requests in which you may not have all the required information, you can click on Draft, and return to the request from the patient record later.

The request unit may also have some questions that must be answered as part of the request.  These will appear after you click on the Next button.  (If there are no questions, then the Submit button is immediately available instead.)

View Past Results can display all the previous results of this same test over a period of time.  For patients with chronic illnesses, this tool lets you monitor the animal's progress over time.

Print Report opens the final report of the request in a PDF window to be printed locally.

Print Labels will print out the request information, including any bar codes you have set up, to put the labels on the specimens after collecting them.

The Request Item (body of the Request) may give you the Charges option, to associate any charges for the request with the current episode order.

If the logged in user is a member of the unit to which the Request was sent, the context menu may have many other options available.

Members of the Request unit can accept, perform, transcribe, and many other options, depending on the workflow established under Catalog Setup.

Some options, such as the ability to cancel or verify, will also require an elevated user privilege.
