Patient Search Screen

Patient Search Screen

The Patient Search Screen is the best method for finding an existing patient in the system when the patient is not in the process of having a new admission made.

This is the screen that loads when clicking on the Patient button on the header bar, but it can also be accessed under the Navigation screen.

Patient Number Lookup

If you know the patient's case number, you can instantly jump to their patient record by typing the number in the Patient Number Search in the upper right hand corner, without going to the Patient Search Screen.  Use the Patient Search screen when you do not have this number available.

Patient Search

You can search for patients based on a variety of parameters, such as the animal ID (patient name), nickname, tag numbers, patient case numbers, unit, personnel, and the date the patient was added to the system.  One common method for searching for a single patient is to use the client's last name or full name and the animal ID to narrow possible results.

Set Default Search

Set Default Search will permanently store the current search options in your user account, so that they will load any time you come to this screen.  If you only ever search for patients in a specific unit, for example, it may make sense to have that unit saved permanently.  The defaults can be taken off at any time with Remove Defaults.

Patient Search Results

Matching patients will appear in the Search Results window.  Use the additional information in the columns to verify which patient is correct when you have multiples appear.  Case number, name and nickname, breed species and color, owner, and RDVM all appear as sortable columns.

Mouse over the info dot to view even more information about a patient.

Press CTRL+Click to open a patient record in a new tab and keep your search results on this screen intact.
