The Communication Log is a collapsible side panel on the Patient Record that displays all recorded communications to the clients associated with the patient.  On screens larger than 1600 pixels wide, this panel opens automatically.  On smaller screens, it can be accessed by clicking on the vertical Communication Log button to the right of the Visit Information tab.

View Previous Entries

Certain events in VetView will automatically add entries to the communication log.  For example, if an estimate is accepted by an owner, the communication log will automatically add this information to the patient record, including any comments that were added to the estimate.

Other automatic entries include medical record communications to owners and RDVMs, scheduled appointment reminders, and other types of patient reminders.

Entries appear in reverse chronological order, so that the most recently communication is always at the top.

Add New Manual Entry

You can add a manual entry to the communication log if you have a discussion with an owner or other patient contact outside of the automatic communications.

Click on the New Entry button to open the new communication window.

Add the date, the method of contact (in person discussion, phone call, etc.), the patient contact that you spoke with, the topic of discussion for the communication, and any additional comments you need to share with the clinical staff internally regarding the conversation.  

Click on the small check mark next to the date to save the communication to the record.  If you opened this window by mistake, click on the small ban sign to the right of the check mark to cancel out without saving.

Filter Logs

Established patients may have a long list of communication.  VetView allows you to filter these communications by the specific contact that it was sent to, by searching for a key word in the logs, or by a combination of both.

Print Communication Log

Clicking on the Print button on the communication log will generate a PDF report that can be printed and included in the physical copy of the medical record.
