ID/Tag Type Setup

ID/Tag Type Setup

The ID/Tag Type Setup screen is used to create and alter the identification tags that you can associate with your patients.  By making this a custom screen, you can include the specific brands of microchip that your hospital uses, customize the rabies identification for your state or province, or include any other custom patient identifiers that your hospital may want to use for research purposes.  For Quebec, you can also indicate whether the identifier should be reported to ASAQ.

Note that the tag types, once added here, can also be included in a Digital Document Element so that the tag number can be added in a standard catalog item and be automatically added to the patient's information.  This can be especially useful if your state requires a special format for a Rabies Vaccination Certificate - the ID/Tag can be entered on the report and it will get pulled into the patient record, without needing to be manually entered a second time.

ID/Tag Setup List

Versions 3.1 and earlier

This list displays all the existing tags in your system.  They may have been imported from VetStar or UVIS, or may have been added by your hospital's administrative staff.

Change in Version 3.2

The option to flag an ID Tag / Setup item as a permanent microchip was added.  This allows automatic import of the microchip onto the vaccine certificate.

Add New record in Version 3.1

Click on the Add New Record button to open the Edit ID/Tag Dialog box.

Enter the name for your new ID Tag, indicate whether it should be considered reportable to ASAQ (if applicable), and then click on Save.

Add New Record in Version 3.2

Indicate whether this ID Tag / Type will be a permanent microchip.

Edit an Existing Record

Select the line you want to edit, and then click on the Edit button to open the dialog box again.

If you are discontinuing the use of an identifier, you can change the status to Inactive.  This will keep the identifier on any existing patient records, but it will no longer be available to add to patient records going forward.

ID/Tag on Digital Document Setup

ID/Tags become available as a Digital Document Element type, via the Patient ID element.

This allows you to create a digital document element that can be used in Documents and Requests.  When saved or approved, the ID/Tag added to the digital document will automatically be added to the patient record at the same time.

In order for a rabies shot to appear on the Vaccination report on the patient record, make sure that the product used is marked as a Vaccine under the Medication tab in Product Setup.  The digital documents will automatically store the rabies ID, but will not automatically update the vaccine record unless the vaccine product itself is marked as a Vaccine.

ID/Tags on Patient Record

Once added to a patient via a Digital Document, the ID/Tag becomes visible on the patient record under the Patient Details screen.  The Tags tab is near the bottom.

New tags can also be manually edited in here, outside of a digital document.
