Inventory Pull Screen (4.1)
The Inventory Pull Screen is intended to help your inventory team handle Inventory Transfer Requests more efficiently by pulling up the request in a checklist format, and processing the request in real time while pulling the inventory from the Source location.
Open Transfer Request Window
The Open Transfer Request window immediately displays when you access this screen. Inventory Pulls are part of the Inventory Transfer Request process, and no pull can be performed without a corresponding Request.
Select the Source unit from the drop down menu to filter requests.
Select the Status to further filter out Inventory Transfer Requests based on whether they have formally been submitted or not. (If an Inventory Transfer Request is still in New status it will not appear.)
Submitted statuses are ready for the Source Unit to begin pulling.
Working statuses have someone actively performing a pull.
Incomplete statuses have had some items pulled, but not all of them. This may be common in very large requests that will need to be done in multiple pulls.
When all pulls are marked Complete, the request will no longer display on this list.
Field/Button | Description |
---|---|
Source | The Inventory Location from which the items will be transferred. On the Inventory Pull screen, this is most likely the Inventory Location from which the logged in user is working. |
Status | The status of the original Inventory Transfer Request. New requests that have not been submitted by the Destination Unit yet will not appear, but requests that have been Submitted, are Incomplete, or Working, will display on this list. You can display all of them, or filter by a specific status. |
Request List | A display of all the Inventory Transfer Requests that match the filters selected at the top of the window. |
Pulled By | This defaults to the logged in user. When the Inventory Pull begins, this is the user who will be credited with the pull. |
Date | The date that the pull begins. |
Inventory Pull Menu and Details
After you have selected an Inventory Transfer Request to start an Inventory Pull against, the full Inventory Pull screen will load.
The Inventory Pull transitions from Submitted to Working status.
At the top of this screen is the Inventory Pull menu and details.
Button/Field | Description |

Save Button | Saves changes to the current Working status Inventory Pull. |
Print Shopping List | Prints a limited physical copy of the Inventory Request to be used while walking and performing the Inventory Pull. Pulled Qtys load blank to be fileld in. |
Print Pull List Report | Prints the full version of the Inventory Request and the Inventory Pull, including the pulled quantities. This report can be included with the pull delivery to act as a receipt and stocking checklist. |
Scan and Edit | Opens the barcode scanner window. See the section below for more information. |
Complete Inventory Pull | Marks the Inventory Pull as complete and gives the option to automatically stock all the items in the Destination (if the Stocking workflow will not be used) or add to the Stocking List (if the Stocking workflow will be used.) |
Open Transfer Request | Opens the Inventory Transfer Request window that originally loaded on this screen, to allow for finding a new Inventory Pull after completing one without forcing a reload. |
Collapse/Expand Inventory Details | Shows or hides the Lot, Serial, NDC, and Manufacturer. Useful if you are working on a smaller screen or with products where this information is not necessary for the Inventory Pull (i.e. non pharmaceuticals.) |
Request No | The number assigned to the Inventory Transfer Request that this pull belongs to. This number is a hot link. Use CTRL+Click to open the original Request in another tab. |
Source | The Source Inventory Location for this Inventory Transfer Request. In most situations, this will be the Inventory Location that the logged in user is working within. |
Destination | The Destination Inventory Location for this Inventory Transfer Request. In most situations, this will be the Inventory Location to which the Pull will ultimately be delivered. |
Requested By | The user who submitted the Inventory Transfer Request to the Source unit. In most situations, this will be the user to which the Inventory Pull should be delivered. |
Date Needed | The date that the Inventory Transfer Request included as their delivery date. Some Inventory Locations may choose to submit an inventory transfer request several days in advance, in anticipation of stock depletion through the week. |
Comment | A comment included on the Inventory Transfer Request. Exceptions to normal workflow should be included by the user who submitted the Inventory Transfer Request, such as delivering the Inventory Pull to a different user than the one who requested it, or a request for Auto Stocking for a smaller pull. |
Print Shopping List Report
This report displays the items on the original Inventory Transfer Request with a blank line next to the item name. It is intended to be printed and carried with the inventory worker who is physically pulling the items from the source location, in the event they cannot take a laptop with VetView around with them to enter information in real time.
Write down the pulled quantities on the printed version of the report, and then enter them into the Inventory Pull screen in VetView.
Print Pull List Report
The Pull List Report includes any of the items on the request shopping list that have a pulled quantity and have been checked on the Pull List. Rows that are blank or have 0 pulled quantity will not be included on this report.
After completing a pull or partial pull, include the Pull List Report with the delivery to act as a receipt for the destination unit to check the delivery against, if they will not perform the stocking workflow (at which point they should be using the Stocking report instead.)
Scan and Edit Barcodes
If you use a label maker to create barcodes for your inventory items, the Scan and Edit window will allow you to quickly scan inventory items as part of the inventory process.
For the Inventory Pull screen, this window is primarily used as a means of editing the products associated with barcodes, as all the items are already included on this list. (This requires an elevated privilege.)
In this example, the product for barcode 132456 is not correctly associated with it in the system.
Click on the bolded red text to open the Add/Edit window to link a product
The change is saved on Product Setup as a Barcode alternate ID, so that the next time it is scanned, the association will be made in the system.
Inventory Pull Working List
In the lower portion of the Inventory Pull screen is the working list. This is a list of all the items from the Inventory Request.
Items that currently have enough quantity on hand to fill the request will automatically load with a Pulled Qty filled in from one of the inventory rows, highlighted, The specific row that is being pulled from can be adjusted by the person performing the row if it is different.
Items that currently do not have enough quantity on hand to fill the request will load with no quantity. They will also not be highlighted.
Out of Stock Items
It will be up to the policies and procedures of your Inventory department how to handle a request when the inventory does not have enough on hand to meet the demand.
You may choose to perform a partial pull and save the remaining request for after a restocking event or
You may perform the partial pull and cancel all remaining unpulled items, and inform the requesting unit that they should submit a new request for the remaining items after a restocking event.
Other events that may cause a mismatch could include a product number change, or a change in where a specific product is stored (i.e. Pharmacy items are now stored in a pharmacy only location to better match DEA requirements.)
If items are frequently out of stock within the Source unit, consider adjusting the PAR levels for the product to better meet the demands of the Destination units.
Inventory Menu
On each row is the icon for the Inventory Menu. This menu can also be accessed via right click. Please see the Inventory Menu page for details on each option.
Complete Inventory Pull
To complete this portion of the Inventory Pull, click on the Complete Inventory Pull button.
A window will appear that gives you the option to Auto Stock the items in your destination location, or to Add to the Stocking List for the destination if they will complete the formal stocking workflow once the pull has been delivered.
Confirm the username and the date, and then click on the Complete button to finalize the inventory pull.
Clicking on the Add to Stocking List item clears away the list of items that would have been auto stocked. The process will be completed using the Inventory Stocking screen instead.
After clicking on the Complete button, the original Inventory Transfer Request screen will load. The Pull will display on its own tab, with the option to Print the pull list again if needed, or to Start Stocking if the items were not auto stocked.
