Radiology Information System (Generic)
Description: This job process checks for new requests and in the queue. It also opens a port for incoming status changes and reports.
Use this for other RIS systems that have standard HL7 interfaces and do not need a custom job in VetView.
Job Settings
The RIS job should run every 1-3 minutes, depending on your data center and server speeds. You must give your VetView server and the RIS device enough time to process all messages in between the jobs.
Port Settings
The Incoming IP address should auto detect your server’s IP. You will need a fixed network IP for your external RIS device, and the port numbers that will be open for the server and the device to communicate.
Additional Settings
You can give this job a unique name, if you have multiple RIS devices running on your VetView installation.
You can specify an email address to monitor all incoming requests to the RIS device.
Sending application should be VetView. The facility for both should be your hospital name. The Receiving application will be the software provided by the RIS device. These values will be encoded in the HL7.
Required Hospital Setup
Catalog Settings
Only units and catalogs where the Send to Interface button has been turned on will appear in the Additional Settings list.
You will need to add the URL for the RIS portal to the catalog as well.
Digital Documents
For generic RIS devices, your Digital Documents should have the Digital Document Element names exactly as specified by the RIS software, otherwise the two systems may not be able to communicate correctly. Contact your vender for those settings.
(This may be a single result of type Rich Text named “Findings” depending on the output of your RIS device.)
