Demo: Scheduling an Appointment

How do I check in from the PA screen?

When you have collected any information that you need before the patient's arrival and verified everything is correct, you can click on the Check-In button to complete the process.

A window will open that asks you to choose a Patient Location (optional) and then Save and go to the patient record.

If you clicked Check-in by mistake, you can cancel and go back to the PA screen.

How do I check in from the Schedule Screen?

Right click on the appointment from the schedule, and choose the Check-In Now option.  This will navigate you back to the Admission Screen to complete the check-in process.

How do I check in from the Patient Record?

If you are on the patient record, you can check in the patient by right clicking on the Episode Header and choosing Check-in / Open Episode from the menu.

What steps do I need to complete before I can check in a patient?

In order to check in a patient, VetView requires that you have at a minimum:

  • A patient
  • An owner and bill party
  • An admitting unit (this can be changed via a Transfer later on if needed)
  • An appointment type
  • A Main Reason
  • An Attending/Admitting DVM

You will also need any other information that your hospital requires, such as an estimate or a pre-admission document

Additional information can be added to the episode once the patient has been checked in.  Note that the Pre-Admission itself becomes locked after check-in, and further edits to the visit will need to be made on the episode.  This is intended to preserve the information that happened prior to the visit occuring, and keep it separate from any changes made once the patient arrived.
