How do I add a new patient?

How do I add a new patient?
If the patient has never visited your hospital before, you can create a new patient by starting with a New Admission.
You can also start a new admission for an existing patient on this screen without looking them up first.
Click on the Admission button to load the New Pre-Admission screen. From here, you can add a patient into the system for the first time.
Can I add new patients from the patient screen?
The Patient Search screen on the header bar is only for searching for existing patients. You cannot add new patients to the system on that screen. You must start the process of a Pre-Admission, or PA, before you can add the patient to VetView.
At the top of the screen, click on the green plus sign on the Patient Card.
This will open up the Find/Add Patient window. You can look for existing patients here, or create a new one.
Start by filling in the details. If your hospital has automatic case numbers turned on, you can leave it blank, and the patient will have the case number assigned on Save.
If your hospital's workflow asks for a manual, sequential case number, you can assign it by entering it in the blank, and it will be added on Save.
The only required information to create a new patient is the Name and the Species. All other details can be added at a later time as part of the visit, if desired.
When you have added all the details needed, click on the Save button to add this patient.
The screen will refresh, and the patient's first PA has been created. The PA can remain in New status until the patient is ready to start scheduling their first appointment.
All the details entered before pressing Save are recorded, and the most important ones will display on the Patient Card.
