Can I move an accession that was put on the wrong hospital patient?

Can I move an accession that was accidentally put on the wrong hospital patient?

No. Accessions cannot be moved between patients.

Once an accession has been added to one patient in VetView Hospital and sent to your VetView labs, the link in the background between the lab request in both modules is permanent.

However, if a request was submitted to the wrong lab, it can be transferred.

How do I fix a lab request that was submitted on the wrong patient?

If the Lab request has not been accepted, or was accepted and is still in working status, you will need to cancel it and ask the hospital or clinic to resubmit it on the correct patient.

If the Request was not yet accepted

You can cancel the Request yourself from the Request screen if it was not accepted.

If the Request was already accepted and the Accession is in Working or Finalized Status

A user with Administration tab access will need to manually Cancel the accession when it is in Working status.

Then inform the submitting clinic or hospital to resend the accession request on the new patient.

if the specimen was already sent to your lab, you will need to confirm the new request and reprint the new Specimen Label to ensure it matches the correct patient.

How do a transfer a lab request that was sent to the wrong lab?

Under the Administration tab, use the Transfer Accession  option to move the accession from one Lab to Another.

This process will actually create a copy of the Accession and cancel the current one, so like the options for when the request was submitted to the wrong patient, you may need to reprint the Specimen and Accession labels to ensure they match the new information.

The Accession Header dialog box will open for you to select the correct lab and adjust any other header information.
