Portal Setup Guide for VetView 4.2

The VetView Portal is an external website for your lab and hospital clients to view information about their lab test results and referral patients.  If you have external payment processing set up, you can also accept payments on invoices via the portal.

As of Version 3.1, the Portal is controlled using API commands that send information to a job interface on your primary VetView installation.   This method allows VetView to pull in elements to the portal directly from lab accessions and patient records.

VetView Portal Installation

The VetView portals must be installed on their own server, and you will need to work with your university's IT team to ensure that the URL, firewall, and other settings are correct to allow external access.

Hospital and Lab Portal Setup

VetView Hospital and VetView Labs are controlled independently under Hospital Setup and Lab Setup. This allows you to have a custom website linked at the top of each portal, and unique branding on each section.

Each Lab can also have its own unique portal in to allow better control of which clients have access, and also better management of client access by your client coordinators.

Web Portal Jobs

In order for the VetView main application to speak to the VetView Portal, you must have a Web Portal Job set up. This job uses a token key to allow the web portal to speak directly to the main app.

Web Portal Account Management

Both Hospital and Lab portals are managed separately. These accounts are distinct from the VetView user accounts, and linked to the Hospital and Lab client accounts.

However, the Portal accounts can be linked to one another, so that a client can have all their lab accounts under a single login, and link their hospital account to that same login. In this manner, they can have a unified portal login for both hospital and labs, even though the accounts are considered distinct.
