Product Category Setup

Product Category Setup
The Product Category Setup screen is where you can define your product categories. The high level Product Types are hard coded into VetView since they determine how products are classified, billed, and taxed, but you can add additional Product Categories to further assist in separating how your products are sorted within the system.
For hospitals in Quebec, these categories also include ASAQ setup information.
Add or Edit Product Category
Click on the Add button to create a new category, or select a line and click on the Edit button. Both will open an Edit Form window.
Category Name, Category Description, and the Active Flag can be adjusted at any time.
Include in Inventory Reorder
This flag determines if the product should be included in Inventory Reorders when certain thresholds are met under the Inventory definition. When this flag is checked and the quantities have been met, the next time you do a general Purchase Order/Reorder from the default vendor, this item will automatically be included. This flag can be useful for certain high volume products, like PPE, to ensure they are not accidentally forgotten on a purchase order.
Major Inventory changes are planned in a future version of VetView (estimated version 2.2 as of 2/26/2021.) At this time, the flag works as described, but this may change in the new version.
ASAQ Eligible
This allows you to define whether the product category is ASAQ eligible to begin with, and what reporting, credit and debit adjustment, and ASAQ client account the discounts will need to be assigned to. Categories for Credit Adjustment and Debit Adjustment should be named according to how these charges will be reported.
Don't Report to ASAQ should be used for ASAQ eligible lab work, and classified as a different credit adjustment and debit adjustment to ensure these charges are correctly categorized and not included on the ASAQ hospital report.
