Product Setup screen

Overview

  • Provides access to:
    • Product Setup (Product Search)
    • Product Line Setup
    • Price Set Setup
    • Markup Setup
    • Product Scale Setup
    • Tax Setup
    • Product Category Setup
    • Picklist Setup

Product Setup tab (Product Search)

  • Provides the ability to search, view, add, edit, and inactivate, Products and Services.
  • Search Criteria:
    • Product Line, Sequence Number, and Name
    • Product Category
    • Product Type
    • Active / Inactive
  • View products and services
  • Create new products and services
  • Edit existing products and services

Product Line Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to search, create, edit, and inactivate Product Lines.
  • The Product Line is a required attribute of products and services.
  • They organize products and services into logical groups based on function, making it easier to find and apply product and services to orders, etc.
    • Line - A unique index number, and shortcut, for finding products and services.
    • Description - A short description or name that can be used to locate products and services using smart search fields.
    • Product Lines and Descriptions can be modified, but the Line must always be unique.
    • When the Product Line is selected for a product or service, the assignment is dynamic - meaning, if the Line or Description is modified, the products that have been assigned to them, will inherit the change.

Price Set Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Price Sets and Special Discounts based on Products and Product Lines.
    • Multiplication Factor - Price Sets define a multiplication factor that can be associated to each client.
      • The Multiplication Factor will be applied to each product purchased by the client.
      • If it is less than 1, a 'Client Type Discount' will be applied.
      • If is is greater than 1, a 'Client Type Fee' will be applied.
      • If the Multiplication Factor is edited, it will affect future purchases, or charges on bills that have not yet been closed.

    • Adjustment Codes & Reasons - Each Price Set can be configured with the adjustment codes and reasons to be used for the discount or fee.
    • Special Discounts - Special Discounts are applied to specific product lines, or individual products
      • The discounts are applied as a percentage of the invoice price.
      • If the discount rate is edited, it will affect future purchases, or charges on bills that have not yet been closed.
      • Special discounts supersede the Multiplication Factor.

Markup Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Product Markup Multipliers.
    • Multiplication Factor - Markup Multipliers define a multiplication factor that can be associated with each product.
      • The Multiplication Factor will be applied to the 'Base Price' of the product.
      • If the Multiplication Factor is edited, it will affect future purchases, or charges on bills that have not yet been closed.

Product Scale Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Product Scales.
  • A Product Scale can be associated to products and services in order to apply a 'volume discount' when a large quantity of the product or service is purchased.
  • The Product Scale applies a discount based on the extended invoice price of a product or service that is purchased in quantities greater than 1.
    • Sliding Scale Range - A range of values that are applied to the extended invoice price of a product or service.  The Product Scale is composed of one, or more, consecutive, and non-overlapping, ranges.
    • Multiplier - Each Sliding Scale Range is given a Multiplier.
      • The Multiplier will be applied to the portion of the extended invoice price as defined by each Sliding Scale Range, starting with the range that is defined by the smallest amounts.
      • If the extended invoice price exceeds the first range, the next range will be evaluated, then on up until the high value of the range is less than the invoice price.
      • The discount applied to each applicable range, and the portion of the last range, is accumulated to determine the final discount.

Tax Setup tab

  • Provides access to:

    • Product Tax Category Setup

    • Tax Region Setup

    • Tax Jurisdiction Setup

Product Tax Category Setup subtab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Product Tax Categories.

  • A Product Tax Category can be associated to products and services in order to apply sales taxes within the tax jurisdiction, based on the jurisdiction's definition of product categories, and application of tax rates.
  • When a product or service is added to an order, the sales taxes will be calculated based on the Tax Rate that is associated to the Tax Jurisdictions contained within the Tax Region where the item was purchased/delivered, and the Product Tax Category that is assigned to the product.
    • Name and Description - The name is used throughout VetView when selecting the Product Tax Category.
    • Code - A short code that can be used when space is limited on screens and reports.

Tax Region Setup subtab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Tax Regions.

    • A Tax Region defines a geographic area that may be impacted by one, or more, Tax Jurisdictions.
    • Tax Jurisdictions represent the tax authority responsible for establishing the jurisdiction and statutes that define what is taxable, and at what tax rate.
    • Regions don't overlap, but jurisdictions can; therefore, regions can contain many jurisdictions, and jurisdictions can be included in several regions.
    • When a product or service is added to an order, the sales taxes will be calculated based on the Tax Rate that is associated to the Tax Jurisdictions contained within the Tax Region where the item was purchased/delivered, and the Product Tax Category that is assigned to the product.
      • Name and Description - The name is used throughout VetView when selecting the Product Tax Category.
      • Code - A short code that can be used when space is limited on screens and reports.

Tax Jurisdiction Setup subtab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactivate Tax Jurisdictions.

  • Tax Jurisdictions represent the tax authority responsible for establishing the jurisdiction and statutes that define what is taxable, and at what tax rate.
  • A Tax Region defines a geographic area that may be impacted by one, or more, Tax Jurisdictions.
  • Regions don't overlap, but jurisdictions can; therefore, regions can contain many jurisdictions, and jurisdictions can be included in several regions.
  • When a product or service is added to an order, the sales taxes will be calculated based on the Tax Rate that is associated to the Tax Jurisdictions contained within the Tax Region where the item was purchased/delivered, and the Product Tax Category that is assigned to the product.
    • Jurisdiction Name - Used throughout VetView when selecting the Tax Jurisdiction, to identify charges for multiple tax jurisdictions, and to group taxes on the 'Sales Tax' report.
    • Tax ID - The Jurisdiction-assigned Tax ID that will be displayed on the invoice of taxable products and services.
    • Tax Rate - A valued, expressed as a percentage of the taxable revenue, to be collected from the client and remitted to the Tax Jurisdiction.
      • Product Tax Category - A Tax Rate is assigned to a Product Tax Category, which is assigned to a product to determine the Tax Rate to be applied.
      • Start and End Date - Tax Rates may change over time, so each rate is associated to a timeframe for which it is valid.  For each Product Tax Category, within a Jurisdiction, the timeframes may not overlap.

Product Category Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to create, edit, and inactive Product Categories.

  • 'Include in Inventory Reorder' option
  • 'ASAQ Eligible' option
    • Apply to Limits, Don't Report to ASAQ, and Percent Paid Defaults
    • Credit and Debit Adjustment Code, and Reasons
    • ASAQ Client Account

Picklist Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to view, print, add, edit, and delete Billing and Inventory Picklists.

Picklist Setup report

  • Provides the ability to print the Picklist Setup.

  • Provides the ability to view, print, add, edit, and delete Estimate Templates.

Procedure Setup tab

  • Provides the ability to view, print, add, edit, and inactivate Procedures.

Procedures report

  • Provides the ability to view and print the list of Procedures and associated Products.

Fields and Controls

The following table lists all of the fields and controls found on this screen.  The fields and controls are grouped by their location on the screen; for example, buttons on a 'section' or columns in a 'data grid'.  Use the controls at the top of the table to change the sort, grouping, and row height.  To see more of the cell content,  click on the cell expansion control located at the top-right corner of a selected cell.

Privileges

The following table lists the privileges associated with this screen.  The privileges are grouped by the application (Labs, Hospital, or Both), and Section within the list of privileges to which they belong.  Use the controls at the top of the table to change the sort, grouping, and row height.  To see more of the cell content,  click on the cell expansion control located at the top-right corner of a selected cell.
