Alternate IDs

Overview

  1. The Lot Number, Serial Number, and NDC Number have been merged into the Product and Inventory 'Alternate ID' functionality.
  2. Users can now define their own Alternate ID Types.
  3. In order to facilitate existing functionality, the User-defined Alternate ID Types can be mapped to, and used in place of, the existing system-defined Lot Number, Serial Number, and NDC Number fields.
  4. The National Drug Code database can now be imported and associated with Products.
  5. Alternate ID Types can also be defined as:
    1. A 'Unique Inventory Attribute' and used for Inventory Aggregation.
    2. A 'Barcode' to be used for Barcode Scanning.
    3. An 'Inventory' Alternate ID Type, to be assigned only to Inventory.
    4. A 'Product' Alternate ID Type to be assigned only to Products.
    5. A 'Prescription' Alternate ID Type to be assigned only to Prescriptions.

    • Existing Alternate ID Types
      • Maps To - provides the ability to map the old enumerated TYPE (Serial Number, Lot Number, NDC Number, etc.), to the User-defined Alternate ID Type.
        • An Alternate ID Type can be defined to replace each of the existing enumerated Types:
          • TYPE (HOSPITAL_PRODUCT_ALTERNATE_ID):
            • 'Barcode Order' (BARCODE_YN = 'Y')
            • 'Barcode Sales' (BARCODE_YN = 'Y')
            • 'Barcode Stock' (BARCODE_YN = 'Y')
            • 'CDM Product Code'
            • 'Lab Product'
            • 'Lot Number'
            • 'NDC Number'
            • 'Other'
            • 'Serial Number'
        • And, similar attributes of other tables:
          • LOT_NUMBER (HOSPITAL_INVENTORY)
          • LOT_NUMBER (HOSPITAL_INVENTORY_TRANS)
          • NDC (HOSPITAL_PRODUCT_MASTER
          • SERIAL (HOSPITAL_INVENTORY)
          • SERIAL (HOSPITAL_INVENTORY_TRANS)
          • SERIAL_NUMBER (HOSPITAL_PRODUCT_ALTERNATE_ID)
        • Each enumerated value must be unique; so for example, 'Lot Number' can Map To only one Alternate ID Type.
    • Barcode
      • Barcode flag - is a boolean field that designates the Alternate ID Type as a Barcode, causing it to appear in the list of Alternate IDs that can be printed as a Barcode label.
    • Unique Inventory Attribute
      • Aggregate On - if this option is selected, the Alternate ID Type will become one of the Unique Inventory Attributes used to Aggregate Inventory.
