Labs List Search

Labs List Search

This page was created for VetView 0.9 in 2013. It has been updated to reflect changes made to VetView 5.0 and later.

Search User Guides by Keywords

The List Search Screen is used to find and manage Worksheets and Working Lists. It can be found in the Navigation menu under Laboratory Screens.

Spreadsheet worksheets are groups of accessions that can be completed on the Worksheet Screen, with numerical results that can be calculated and entered in bulk. This is the ideal place to view batch accessions such as those for PCR tests. The worksheet screen also allows for a Well Plate Layout view for spreadsheet accessions.

Working Lists are groups of accessions that may not be as conducive to data entry in a spreadsheet format, but should instead be completed in a sequential and orderly manner, such as groups of bacterial cultures or histology slides. These lists are processed on the Result Entry screen.

Both types of lists can be viewed and managed on this screen.

List Search Options

At the top of this screen are the List Search Options. This section lets you search for lists based on the name of the list (which may have been auto generated from the Worksheet screen), the performing lab, the status, the list type, date of creation, or the user who made the list.

After clicking on the List Search button, you will see the results in the next panel.

Creator

Searches for lists based on the user who created the list. If each user is responsible for creating and managing their own working lists and spreadsheets, this search can be used to find them easily.

Search

Searches for lists based on the select criteria. Search parameters can be combined as needed to narrow down results.

Reset

Clears out all the currently selected search parameters and reloads the screen with the default search results instead.

List Search Results

The list Search Results section includes a grid that has the name of the list, the created date, the person who made the list, the type of list, the status, and how many tests are on the list.

Lists do not have tests until they are added on the Worksheet screen or the Test screen. If a list was created with no tests, and it is no longer needed, you can safely delete it.

The name of the test is a hot link. You can click on the row for a list to have a brief preview of all the tests associated with that list appear on the right of the list results, in a new panel.

Clicking on an item that is classified as a Working List will direct you to the Result Entry Screen. Likewise, clicking on an item that is classified as a Worksheet will redirect you to the Worksheet Screen. Clicking on the line item without selecting a hyperlink will show the accession details associated with that list (see the image below).

Accessions Panel

On the tests panel, the Accession and Test columns are also hot links. You can go straight to an accession (or to the specific test on the accession) on this panel, and bypass the Worksheet or Result Entry screen if needed.

This button is also available on the Worksheet screen itself.

If you have a worksheet that was created, but no tests were ever added, you can Delete the worksheet to clean it up. If at least one test was added, even if that test was cancelled, you should use Mark Worksheet Complete instead.

You must select the performing Laboratory that the worksheet will be associated with.

A name will automatically be generated based on today’s date and the current time. You can overwrite this name with whatever you want.

Select the list type (spreadsheet or working list) and how the list will be created: by scanning accession barcodes one at a time, by building out a 96 Well Plate layout, or by importing the tests directly from a PCR Export File.
