Patient Census Job

Patient Census Job

The Patient Census Job can automatically remove patients from the census rolls or charge census products.  The job can either run once a day, at a specific time, or a specified number of hours internal.

Settings

Like all the API jobs, you must specify a server for this job to run on.  The Active Flag means that it is set up and available to run at any time.  Auto Start indicates that the job will automatically turn on after the server is rebooted; if this flag is turned off, you must manually turn the interface on to have the jobs run at the specified times.

Job Settings

This section defines when the job will run to remove patients from the census if they have been Discharged, but are still listed as being inside the hospital on the Patient Census.  This job may be best to set overnight, or a time when new patients are less likely to be added during the day.

Additional settings

This section defines when the Census billing will be applied.  This can be set to run hourly or once a day, depending on how your hospital handles boarding charges.

Charges can be automatically added to the patient's orders.  You can also turn off the option to remove patients if the discharge date has passed, in case there is additional work your clinical staff need to do on patients discharged in prior days.

View Logs

If there are errors posting charges or other errors running the Census job, the errors will appear in the logs.

Click on Filter to see all errors, or select the date range to view fewer errors.  Errors logged on the Patient Census Job must be resolved on the census or the Exception Log within VetView.

Common errors occur if there are missing products, the order has been closed, or the patient was discharged but is still on the census.
